As President of the corporation, I am a United States citizen of Haitian origin and I lived in the United States for nearly 26 years.
I relocated after the earthquake of 2010 to help with the rebuilding of Haiti. I started the leadership school in 2012 with my own funds. Each member of our corporation has used their own funds to keep the program going. We have not received any help or assistance for the past 9 years. We understand money does not grow on trees and we uphold integrity as one of the essence of our corporation.
We understand we can do more if we open our finance world and allow others who want to make a difference to participate. At first, we did not charge and realized that the program was not valued because it was free. We started charging with the option of community service and more came but still cannot pay the minimum charged. We have come to realize that people want to learn but the hardship that they are living in is draining their willingness. They will drop their studies if they find even a temporary job because it is hard to live by with nothing coming in and depending on someone for your livelihood. This education assistance funds will be used to finance those who cannot help themselves just like the financial aid system in the United States. The repayment can be in community service or cash that will go back to the funds to help others.
We want students to know that nothing is free and educations costs but someone else is facilitating their education so they can learn to help others.
